I'd Tap That

Water is a fundamental part of life, however, the problem with water is that of the 326,000,000,000,000,000,000 gallons of water on the planet, 98% that is in the oceans so undrinkable, 1.6% of the fresh water is locked up in icecaps and glaciers. So that leaves 0.4% of water shared between lakes, rivers, wells, our bodies, food, the air etc (source: Science - how stuff works). Therefore it is actually a very limited resource for us to be able to use to drink, bathe and clean with, so we need to be careful with what we use.

So your way to make the world a better place: conserve water - check your taps aren't leaking, turn the tap off when you are brushing your teeth, have a staggered shower (i.e. turn the water off while you are lathering up) etc.
How will it help? According to The Bruzz's blog (How much water do we waste brushing our teeth?) the average person can waste about 684 gallons a year, if only 1 in every 100 people in the US left the tap running while they brushed their teeth that is 2,079,768,512 gallons of water being wasted a year. Now there is an example of the butterfly effect.

Remember the butterfly effect - each small action repeated adds together to create a large variations in the end.
Until next time.

The first step

Want to make a difference in the world? Congratulations, you have made the first step towards achieving this goal. Now that you have acknowledged this desire, it is time to work out how. Whether you want to take small, giant or medium steps is up to you, the important thing is that you make them.

But what can you ACTUALLY do? Start by looking at what you think you can offer to the world, actually sit down and think. It's a big question, but it doesn't necessarily require big actions. If you are struggling for ideas this blog is aimed at giving suggestions for further steps you can take to have a positive impact on the world.
